History as we know it might be false.
Much of what we regard as fact may in reality be mere belief.
When you accept something as a fact, ask yourself: Did I witness it personally,
or do I know it only because someone told me, I read it, or I saw it on television?
If you did not see it with your own eyes, it remains a belief rather than a verified fact,
and it may not be true.
The only remnants of the past we can directly observe are the buildings in our cities.
We can see them in our own towns or when we travel.
Everything else we know about history is based on belief and might be wrong.
